America’s Corvette Club donates $13,000
from Corvettes America’s Show to Three Major
Charities
America’s Corvette Club, sponsored by Cauley
Chevrolet, is pleased to announce that they are
donating a total of $13,000 to three major Metro
Detroit Area charities.
America’s Corvette Club produces the Corvettes
America Show (an all-Corvette show) each August
at the Vehicle Engineering Center (VEC) of the
General Motors Technical Center in Warren, MI.
This year’s August 12th show was the 6th
annual show for the club at the Tech Center and
was the largest and most successful in the club’s
history. Over 160 members of the club volunteer
to stage the entire show including a Judged competition,
People’s Choice competition and a Silent
Auction. Over 600 Corvettes were on display and
over 3000 spectators enjoyed the show. The show
now draws the leading Corvette suppliers from
all over North America.
This year’s show generated enough proceeds
that the club is now able to donate a total of
$13,000 to be divided among three charities the
club members voted to support. Charities being
supported this year are the Karmanos Cancer Institute,
Leader Dogs for the Blind and the Juvenile Diabetes
Research Foundation.
Two members of America’s Corvette Club
are cancer survivors and were patients at the
Karmanos Cancer Institute. Peter Karmanos and
his company Compuware also sponsor the factory
Corvette Racing C6.R race team which the club
roots for in the American Le Mans Series each
season so there is a natural fit there for Corvette
enthusiasts. The club also volunteers time and
their Corvettes to help out with the Juvenile
Diabetes Research Foundation Walk-A-Thon at the
GM Tech Center each September. The rest of the
donation will go to the Leaders Dogs for the Blind
which the club felt was a very worthy local cause.
“The club starts working on the show a
year in advance and each member of the club is
very proud that our hard work produces not only
the largest Corvette show in Michigan but also
much needed donations to support these important
charities” said Tom Psillas, the club’s
Show Chairperson. “We’re very proud
that our members can put on a great show and give
back to the community at the same time”.
“There is a fantastic group of people in
this club. The Corvette community is like a family
and our club really enjoys putting on this show
and raising much needed funds for important causes”
said Richard Heldenbrand, America’s Corvette
Club President. “We appreciate the fact
that GM allows us use their facility for this
event and we are looking forward to next year”.
Next year’s show will once again be centered
around the Event Island of the VEC building where
the Corvette Engineering Team does their magic
creating America’s favorite sports car.
“It’s an honor for us to be here at
this historic facility each year” said Heldenbrand.
America’s Corvette Club has approximately
300 very active members who live in the Metro
Detroit area. The Corvettes America Show is a
labor of love for the club and enables them to
give back to the community. The club is sponsored
by Cauley Chevrolet of West Bloomfield, MI
